A group which formed the Anti-Winson Seow's Academic Cheating Page on Facebook wants him to explain his academic qualifications, the authenticity of which have been questioned, major Chinese dailies reported.

Seow, who claimed to have served in war-torn countries, had apparently said he held qualifications to be a trauma surgeon, emergency physician and psychologist.

Seow had reportedly said he would return to Malaysia this month to provide an explanation. On Wednesday, the community health outreach organisation issued a statement to refute a number of claims made by year-old Winson Seow, including rendering aid in disaster areas such as Somalia and Syria. IMR said all reference to surgical experiences by Seow did not take place with the organisation as it had never authorised Seow to perform any surgery because he was not accredited through IMR to perform such duty.

According to the statement, Seow said he had taken a three-year course in traditional Chinese medicine at the Beijing Chinese Medical University in China before signing up to do relief work with International Medical Relief in , during which he rendered care in disaster areas in Senegal, Haiti and Peru.
